Belfast International Lands a Record UK First

Belfast International Airport has become the first airport in the United Kingdom to install new, ground-breaking advanced instrument landing technology as part of a £900,000 investment to help aircraft land safely in poor visibility.

The work was carried out by NATS, the UK's leading provider of air navigation services.

More European Destinations as Result of New Codeshare

George Best Belfast City Airport has strengthened its reach to major European destinations through a codeshare agreed between bmi regional and Brussels Airlines on its five times weekly Belfast-Brussels route.

The deal means bmi regional travellers are now able to book onto flights operated by Brussels Airlines from Belfast City Airport to the Belgian capital. From Brussels, passengers can then connect to onward destinations throughout Europe and across the world.

New Complaints Body Set Up By CAA

About 20 airlines have signed up to the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) body, set up by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) which allows passengers to complain about delays, cancellations, lost bags and other issues without having to go to court.

The body will rule on EC261 matters, dealing with flight delays, cancellations and denied boarding issues, EC1107 matters concerning passengers with reduced mobility and lost delayed and damaged baggage issues.

Federal regulators are proposing to ban swimming with dolphins in Hawaii, a move that could spell the end for one of the region's most popular tourist delights.

The National Marine Fisheries Service says Hawaii's spinner dolphins - the nocturnal species that humans usually frolic with - are being deprived of rest during the day and becoming stressed out.
