The country house hotel that rewrites the rules
Friday, 18 November 2011 VICKY RICHARDS heads to Ascot to stay at the Dorchester Collection’s latest offering - the stunning Coworth Park... IT is not often a short break surpasses every expectation you may have, but our recent stay at Coworth Park, Ascot, with the opportunity to play golf at nearby Wentworth, did just that. It was not cheap but it delivered exactly what we hoped for and we enjoyed every minute of it. Coworth Park is the latest offering from Dorchester Collection designed to be a ‘Country House Hotel that rewrites the rules’. This splendid white Georgian mansion located at the edge of Windsor Great Park and set in 240 acres of parkland has been transformed with classy interiors to bring a very contemporary look and feel to a country house hotel. From the bronze tree branching over the foyer to the helix staircase with its red leather hand rail, this place oozes quality and style and we realised this was indeed a country house hotel that dared to be different. As Zoe Jenkins, Coworth Park’s ebullient General Manager said -‘if this was only a home from home – why would you come here! And when you think about it, she has a valid point! The hotel has linked with neighbouring Wentworth Golf Club to offer guests the opportunity to play golf at any of the three Championship golf courses during their stay. As golfers, this was an opportunity to be seized and we were not to be disappointed. We played the Edinburgh Course, known for its striking pines which dominate the course so straight driving was a big advantage!
