CONSUMER airline watchdog, Air Transport Users Council (AUC) has revealed that MyTravel airline has slashed its delayed flights by more than a third!
While other charter airlines showed an overall deterioration in punctuality, MyTravel Airways, MyTravel's in-house charter airline and the only charter airline based at Belfast all year round, cut its delays significantly.
Tina Tietjen, Chairman for the AUC, said: "We look to airlines to follow the example set by MyTravel Airways, which has improved its punctuality performance significantly over the last year, and bounce back with improved punctuality in summer 2006."
The AUC's positive report follows closely on the heels of MyTravel being given an award for Most Improved UK Charter Airline for summer 2005 by www.flightontime.info.
Wayne Gough, MyTravel Base Manager at Belfast said: "We are delighted with these achievements as it is recognition of all the hard work our staff, Servisair our handling agent and service partners have put in over the last year to ensure all our passengers have a great holiday!"
In summer 2005, a higher proportion of MyTravel Airways' flights departed within 15 minutes of their allotted time slot than any other charter airline.
From Belfast International Airport, MyTravel Airways boasts an on-time performance record of 94 per cent with 74 per cent of flights actually leaving before their scheduled departure meaning that MyTravel Holidaymakers get to start their holiday even earlier.
MyTravel Airway's Managing Director, Frank Pullman, said: "MyTravel Airways' goal was to turn around on-time performance and these results speak for themselves.
"Part of MyTravel's strategy is to improve the quality of our product offer. The airline now offers award-winning meals, greatly improved in-flight entertainment and now substantially better on-time performance. This is obviously good news for our customers."
