Early Check-in urged at Dublin Airport

A SECURITY shakeup at Dublin Airport is posing problems for travellers. Some passengers have missed flights recently as the result of a increased security at Ireland's biggest airport. Many Northern Ireland travellers use Dublin, particularly for transatlantic flights and some European destinations. And Dublin Airport has become more attractive since the opening of Motorway from just south of Dundalk - dramatically cutting travel time.
Travellers are now been urged to arrive at check-in at least 90 minutes before their departure time for
domestic, UK and European mainland destinations. And Airport chiefs are recommending travellers to arrive even earlier for longhaul and transatlantic routes."Increased security measures have been implemented and this is causing some delays. Some prospective passengers have even missed their flights as a result," said a Dublin Airport spokesperson. "Travellers should take only one bag on board the
aircraft, not bigger than the stipulated size, and should of course have nothing sharp or include any
prohibited items in their luggage." Dublin Airport was in the firing line - not for the first time in recent in recent years -when EU regulators pinpointed loopholes in passenger security measures. Since then increased security measures have been put in place, but the downside of this has been some
passengers arriving too late to catch their flights. Travel agents have accused the Airport of
over-reacting to the situation.
