Ban on coaches carrying children in France

Ban on coaches carrying children in France tomorrow 30th July

The Association of British Travel Agents has released the following statement:

"All major roads in France will be exceptionally busy during the weekend of 30/31 July as the peak holiday season begins. Delays should therefore be
expected. In the past similar weekends have seen a higher than usual incidence of road accidents. To alleviate the situation, the French
authorities have, as in previous years, announced that all coaches carrying children under the age of eighteen will be banned from using the road
network on Saturday 30 July. The ban will begin at midnight (Friday 29 July) and last 24 hours. The authorities have confirmed that no exceptions,
other than travel beginning and ending in the same Départment, will be allowed and that coaches ignoring the ban may, if caught, be immobilised and
the driver fined. Coach companies are therefore advised to delay their departures/arrival in France until the ban ends."
