THE Lady Sandel departing Christie Park Jetty on Strand Road, Coleraine is opening us up a leisurely cruise on one the Province's prettiest rivers.

Run by River Bann Cruises Ltd, this service offers a range of day-time experiences as well as romantic evening sailings.

Each cruise lasts around 90 minutes passing by some memorable sights such as historic Mountsandel, through the Victorian Cutts Lock, past the ancient Camus Ford and mysterious Loughan Island and more - and that's only the 'upstream cruise'.

Downstream will take you through the heart of Coleraine, uncovering its bridges and harbour, towards the unspoiled estuary with its charming scenery and wildlife and then on to Barmouth before returning home.

An informative commentary onboard means you'll be filled in on all the stories and facts surrounding your passing sights.

There'll be snacks as well, public services and binoculars for the more curious passengers!

The cruises will begin this Easter and run through to October.

They're open to private groups too if you want to do a bit of bonding on the Bann.

The Lady Sandel can serve a number of jetties on the river between Coleraine and Kilrea and can add a unique and relaxing element to your itinerary say River Bann Cruises.

Special upcoming cruises include 'Sundown Evening Cruise on June 30, July 14 and August 4. This will be a memorable two hour cruise specifically for adults who want to watch the sun set. There's music and complimentary wine or soft drinks to enhance the romantic setting!

Birdwatchers might want to enjoy the Birdwatching Cruise on June 8, July 9 and August 7 when a two hour evening cruise co-inciding with low water will allow a great views of the surrounding area's wildlife.

For the kids, July 7 and August 18 will see a Teddy Bears Picnic cruise and a walk in Mountsandel Wood where the young and young at heart will be entertained.

2007's timetable is as follows: Easter to September end - Saturdays and Sundays at 3pm.

June, July and August - Monday to Friday at 11am and 2pm. There will also be an evening cruise during this summer period from Coleraine Marina at 7pm.

During October, cruises are by arrangement only.
