Special Jubilee Events Across Scotland
Thursday, 05 July 2012 Second only to London, Scotland boasts a wealth of royal connections – both historic and current. With its close proximity and easy travel links, Scotland is the obvious choice for visitors from Northern Ireland who want to continue to celebrate this once in a lifetime event. Malcolm Roughead, Chief Executive of VisitScotland, said: “Scotland’s ties with the royal family run deep and can be charted throughout our rich history. During this special Diamond Jubilee year we are celebrating Scotland’s royal connections and highlighting the surprising, fun and historical events and attractions across Scotland. We look forward to welcoming our friends and neighbours from Northern Ireland to come and join in the fun.” A number of special events and exhibitions are taking place across Scotland including The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo from August 3 to August 25 when this year's event will be a 'salute to the Queen.' The stunning display will be Diamond Jubilee themed and is sure to impress. The Prom at Glamis Castle, By Forfar, Angus will be held on August 11. It's the perfect place to pack a picnic and enjoy beautiful music in a beautiful setting of the castle. The evening will be rounded off by a spectacular fireworks display. Later in the summer another major event is the Braemar Highland Games which will be held on September 1 at Braemar, Aberdeenshire. Other events include a new behind the scenes tour of Holyroodhouse, Edinburgh, which runs until September 30. Full details of all events and exhibitions, including special ones of the Jubilee year, can be had from VisitScotland. |
