Smoother Transatlantic Travel Thanks to New Agreement

Air Canada and Aer Lingus have signed an interline agreement to make flying between Ireland and Canada more convenient for passengers. The agreement takes immediate effect and is a preliminary step toward a full code-sharing relationship expected to be finalised next year between the Canadian and Irish flag carriers.

“Air Canada is pleased to interline with Aer Lingus as it will complement our Dublin-Toronto seasonal service to make it easy to fly year-round between Ireland and Canada via convenient connections through London Heathrow, Air Canada’s largest international station. "We intend to follow through with other measures to enhance the experience for customers travelling between Ireland and Canada, including a full code share relationship with Aer Lingus beginning next year, the planned relocation of both carriers to Terminal 2 at Heathrow to facilitate connections and following that the introduction of year-round flights between Ireland and Canada,” said Gary Cross, General Manager Europe, Middle East, Africa and India at Air Canada.

New Guide to River Cruise Holiday Options

In response to the rapid rise of river cruise holidays, the news and reviews website Cruise Critic has launched a new river cruise resource to help would-be travellers compare ships and cruise lines.

Carolyn Spencer Brown, Cruise Critic editor-in-chief explains: "River cruise lines have made huge strides in improving their offerings across the board - from new ships and major refurbishments to improved service and a greater variety of tour options. Because of this, we’re seeing more distinction between the individual lines and the offerings making the options much more varied and interesting. So, we’re providing information on Cruise Critic that will help people choose the right ship and itinerary, to suit their preferences.”

New Rules Covering Package Holidays

Travel agents have to make changes to their booking processes from next Monday, October 1 or risk breaking the law.

New rules means a travel agent cannot take any money from a customer when selling a tour operator's holiday, unless the agent has a written agency agreement from the tour operator and is able to hand over an ATOL Certificate immediately to the customer.
